18th July 1644

When you leave Ramsey on the coast road, and take the left turn to Maughold, the road crosses the tram track and then drops down through Port-e-Vullen.

In a garden on the left hand side of the road there is a black marble memorial stone with an inscription carved on it in white. The inscription reads:

It was at
this spot
on
18th July 1644
that nothing happened

For once there is nothing more to be said!
