Inside Sanitation

In general the older a Manxman is, the more interesting the stories he has to tell. . . .

Some of the older Manxmen remember the introduction of the inside toilet. The farmers were united in their disgust at this new fad. There was no way they would be spending money on this sort of nonsense, whatever their wives might say. What a waste of a room. And what kind of man shits inside his own house?

Once they had given in to their wives and installed an inside toilet, the old boys changed their minds, presumably on the next wet and cold Manx night.

Nothing more was said of it.
